Brennan's most recent publication, Introductory Odd-Metered Studies for Trumpet, fills the pedagogical gap in odd meters for trumpet players. This method book is in conjunction with his recent recording project 21st Century American Trumpet Sonatas. While not a stipulation of the sonata, many American trumpet sonatas integrate odd meters throughout, and it is important to begin introducing these studies to trumpet students as early as possible. Similarly to the method books by Robert Getchell, Introductory Odd-Metered Studies for Trumpet is progressive in nature, slowly introducing new ideas throughout. By the end of this method book, the player will have a much stronger rhythmic foundation and understanding of subdivision.
